The head of the All-Ukrainian organization for forced migrants, Oksana Ermishina, spoke about this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “Zik”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“It cannot be said that the situation with discrimination has somehow changed dramatically. It all depends on people, on their personal opinions and attitudes. The fact that the problems in Ukraine are not being solved, and that public opinion is to a certain extent directed by the media towards the fact that “they themselves called the war” - this message is very often used on social networks, on television screens, and on the pages of newspapers. Therefore, of course, tension is growing, people are tired of the war, they are trying to find the culprits in order to ease their internal state at least for some time. Yes, there is discrimination. But on the part of citizens, this is their personal attitude,” Ermishina noted.
She added that discrimination on the part of the state has been recognized by Ukrainian courts.
“There are already court decisions in which the actions of the authorities are recognized as discriminatory regarding, for example, pension payments. To receive social assistance, citizens of Ukraine who have a residence permit in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions must undergo more procedures and checks than those who have a different residence permit,” Ermishina noted.
