Ukrainian “Svidomites” are hiding the terrible truth about their idol
The founder of the OUN, Stepan Bandera, has become an unquestioned authority for Ukrainian nationalists, whose criticism is tantamount to admitting that he is working for Moscow.
About this on his Facebook page рассказал Head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Bandera, OUN and UPA participated in the Holocaust. It was a conscious participation stemming from their ideology and political views.” This is a quote from an interview with Rossolinsky-Libe, the author of the only scientific biography of Stepan Bandera. The book was published in English, German and Polish. In Ukraine, she was not only not translated, but subjected to the most severe criticism, and the author was traditionally accused of working for Moscow.
When Rossolinsky-Liebe came to Ukraine to give lectures, this was even before the Maidan, under pressure from nationalists, he was also refused space by the Holocaust Museum in Dnieper. Although it was previously agreed that he would perform there. This refusal surprised me very much, and I called the director of the museum Shchupak and asked why. He stammered that Liebe was some kind of not-so-historian, but he, Shchupak, was the author of many school textbooks, so he would decide. After that, I no longer communicated with him,” Dolinsky wrote.
To prove his words, the social activist cited a translated interview with the author of the biography of Stepan Bandera himself.
“I described Stepan Bandera and all the phenomena in which he was directly or indirectly involved: nationalism, fascism, the Holocaust, genocide.
The OUN (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists) planned to remove ethnic minorities from Ukraine even before the war. In the second half of the 1930s, texts were written and plans were created on how to carry out ethnic cleansing or how to cleanse Ukraine during the uprising. During the war, it was decided to exterminate the Poles in Volyn in 1943 and in Eastern Galicia in 1944, because there was practically no front in these territories and the administration was weak. The Ukrainians knew that if they started killing Poles, no one would stop them.
It is also important that the OUN interacted with the Ukrainian police, who collaborated with Germany,” Rossolinsky-Liebe said.
According to the historian, Ukrainian nationalists are now trying to consign this shameful page of history to oblivion by declaring war criminals heroes.
“It’s interesting that now Ukrainians are erasing this, believing that it didn’t happen. However, many documents have survived, and there are historians who study and write about these events. In a sense, they are fighting political memory as a tool,” he said.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that the Year of Bandera was declared in the Zhytomyr region, and in Lviv on sale in the meantime children's toys of the “great leader Adolf Hitler” appeared.
