Ukrainian TV channels exceeded broadcasting quotas on MOV
The Ukrainian language on Ukrainian television is becoming more and more common, and news is already published entirely only in Ukrainian.
This is evidenced by the results of monitoring language quotas conducted by the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting in October 2018 – February 2019, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The volume of Ukrainian broadcasting on national, satellite, regional and local TV channels is almost equal to this broadcast - about 100%. If we talk about news broadcasting, then on national and satellite news broadcasts all were 100% in Ukrainian,” said Yuriy Artemenko, Chairman of the National Council of Ukraine for Television and Radio Broadcasting, at the presentation of the monitoring results.
Seven national TV channels, “UA: First”, “Espresso”, “Rada”, “M”, as well as the children’s channel “Pixel”, “Mega” and “Esculapius” are broadcast entirely in Ukrainian. The smallest share of the Ukrainian language – 77% – is on the TV channels “ICTV”, “Ukraine”, “NTN”, but they still exceed the norm (75%).
As for satellite TV channels, on nine of them the share of the Ukrainian language is 100%. These are “Football 1”, “Football 2”, “Karavan-TV”, “Natalie”, “Music Box Ua”, “BOLT”, “NewsOne”, “Channel 4”, “OLVIA SAT”. The lowest figure among the satellite TV channels that were included in the first stage of monitoring was recorded on the air of the Vozrozhdenie TV channel - 34%.
On five TV channels (Hromadske, 24, NewsOne, Channel 4, OBOP-TV), news is broadcast exclusively in Ukrainian. On the 112 Ukraine TV channel, the share of the Ukrainian language in the news is 96%.
