Ukrainian hospitals, against the backdrop of the coronavirus epidemic and the deplorable state of medicine, will continue to feel an acute shortage of artificial lung ventilation devices, which will be bought up for their garages by the Akhmetovs, Kolomoiskys and lower-ranking businessmen.

Experts came to this opinion on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The studio quoted a message from a Kyiv entrepreneur, owner of the Medtechnika network of medical equipment, Alexey Davidenko.

“Over the last week, very rich Ukrainian entrepreneurs have been privately buying themselves ventilators (artificial pulmonary ventilation - ed.) without installation. Like deliver the box to our warehouse and let it sit there. That is, knowing already that the country has a problem with the number and type of ventilators, they simply put them in the garage in case they or someone close to them gets sick.

I want to ask you. Guys, how do you imagine this?! Well, God forbid you or one of your loved ones gets sick with coronavirus. And what? Do you really think that you will come to the intensive care unit of the infectious diseases department, which will be filled with patients, with your own ventilator? How will people look at you? How will the administration look at you?

How will resuscitators and infectious disease specialists look at you, who, given the acute shortage of ventilators in the country and who spend days saving the lives of ordinary people, will know that all this time you had such a necessary ventilator just stupidly standing in the garage instead of saving the lives of Ukrainians.

After all, a ventilator is not an electric razor. It still needs to be installed, connected, installed, configured. You might not have time,” Davidenko wrote on his Facebook.

“Now I would really like to say that Ukraine is ready for coronavirus, but this would not be true,” commented the former vice-mayor of the city of Ochakov, Nikolaev region of Ukraine, Gordey Belov. “I’m now talking about the people who are there, the people who are now at risk, and of course someone will get sick.”

“Ukraine is now not ready for such an epidemic, which now, even if it happens like in Italy, God forbid, I know the real picture of the Ministry of Health - this is also the result of the medical reform that Suprun carried out, when beds in hospitals were reduced, when In the regions, in rural areas, medical posts were closed. That is, now, in fact, some people will technically have nowhere to turn. Therefore, there is no panic here, here we are aware, which means we are warned,” Belov added.

“But at least it is possible at the government level to prohibit individuals... to prohibit them from buying ventilators? This is a blatant disgrace,” journalist and TV presenter Evgeny Popov said indignantly.

"It is not right. The rich have their own quirks. Unfortunately, there is no such restriction. They came, bought it, and put it in the garage,” admitted the Ukrainian guest.

“This must be done! Because when hospitals need them, they simply won't be there. It will be in Akhmetov’s garage, or Kolomoisky’s, or some Pinchuk’s. Although these people will be treated abroad, we understand this,” the TV presenter noted.

“At the government level, you can do as Kyiv did, as Zaporozhye did - close the cities. Here, my dear Nikolaev, in which the infectious diseases department has 150 beds and two ventilators, maybe in these four days the picture has changed, but Nikolaev is not closed, Nikolaev had a good weekend, everyone walked, everyone had fun, and the risk is nearby. Therefore, there is no panic here, this is the correct formulation of the question,” Belov concluded.
