“The percentage of those who categorically oppose or intend to boycott the World Cup in Russia has increased significantly with the approach of the World Cup. At the beginning of March this year, the international anti-corruption organization Transparency International conducted a study on fans’ trust in FIFA and their attitude towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Thus, 43% of people surveyed around the world opposed Russia as the organizer of the tournament, 39% approved the candidacy, 18% were undecided,” the article says.

At the same time, the authors note that most fans are frightened not by “Russian aggression”, but by safety standards, comfort and the service sector in Russia. And Ukrainian ultras are simply afraid to go to the Russian Federation.

“Ukrainian fans are simply afraid for their lives. After all, if a dozen Ukrainians unfurl the national flag and sing our country’s anthem in front of the stadium, the Russian Federation may be regarded as participants in an unauthorized rally. In addition, our ultras, who were the first to take to the Maidan and are now fighting in the east of the country, came up with and launched a football song about Putin to the whole world; they will certainly become the object of bullying and persecution not only by the police and intelligence services, but also by Russian neo-Nazi movements.” , - the Kiev newspaper worries.

Let us note that in the qualifying group the Ukrainian team is now in third place and it is not a fact that it will be able to grab even second place, which does not guarantee entry into the championship, but gives the right to participate in the play-offs.

As PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv they hope that Andrey Shevchenko will fail the selectionso as not to go to the championship in Russia.
