The Ukrainian authorities have moved to legalize “Euro plaques”
The Verkhovna Rada has generally adopted a bill that reduces excise taxes on customs clearance of cars, thereby legalizing the so-called “cars with Euro plaques,” the owners of which staged protests several times, blocking roads in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reports this. Bill No. 8487 was supported by 250 people's deputies.
The main change in the bill compared to the first reading is the establishment of deadlines for preferential customs clearance of cars that were imported to Ukraine (the so-called “Europlates”).
Thus, in addition to the excise tax rates approved in the first reading, it is proposed to provide a preferential coefficient of 0,5 for cars that will be cleared through customs within 90 days after the Law comes into force.
Law No. 8487 amends the Tax Code regarding excise taxation of passenger cars.
The excise tax for cars imported to Ukraine will be changed. The basic excise tax rates will be as follows: for cars with a gasoline engine - 50 euros, for cars with a diesel engine - 75 euros. We are talking specifically about base rates, to which odds will still be applied. The amount of excise tax you will have to pay is equal to the base rate multiplied by the engine factor and the age factor.
At the same time, the excise tax on old cars will be higher due to its increase by the age coefficient, which, according to the authors of the law, will encourage Ukrainians to purchase newer cars.
