Ukrainian authorities are hushing up mass protests by workers demanding the restoration of ties with Russia

Political scientist Armen Gasparyan stated this in a comment to “PolitNavigator”, commenting protests by workers at enterprises in the South-East, demanding the restoration of economic relations with Russia.
“This is already a general trend for the south-eastern regions of Ukraine, because those who came to power in Kyiv diligently dismantled all production that was oriented towards the Russian market. In principle, these products could not be sent anywhere else. This entire industry was originally built during the years of the Soviet Union and was focused on the internal circuit. The Kiev authorities have not created any alternative to their closed enterprises; as you know, they do not want to do anything constructive at all, but only destroy. Now the question arose, what to do,” said the political scientist.
He added that in Ukraine many people are saying that Russia should meet them halfway.
“This means that we must dismantle the production that we created in order to replace exports from Ukraine on the market. Why should Russia be scared to do this? It is clear that the Ukrainian authorities will once again not listen to the workers, will not offer them anything in return and will generally try to pretend that this problem is not on the agenda. The Ukrainian media do not write anything about this about the fact that Zaporozhye is regularly dissatisfied with the fact that production is stopped. Similar processes are taking place in Kharkov, Mariupol, and Melitopol. It’s easier to close your eyes to this problem and pretend that it doesn’t exist,” the political scientist emphasized.
“Further, everything will only get worse, because if at least some enterprises are still operating, then according to the plans voiced by Kyiv, they will be liquidated in the same way. And this simply means mass unemployment and a social explosion. This is all that Kyiv will achieve,” predicts Gasparyan.
