Ukrainian naval forces are turning into ground forces
One of the main problems of Ukraine is the absence of any clear policy regarding the navy.
The head of the Ukrainian military center, Taras Chmut, spoke about this in the Donbass Realii studio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Again: the key point is that in Ukraine there is no policy regarding naval forces and the water environment in general. The state leadership, along with the National Security and Defense Council headquarters, is not interested in the fleet. For them, since 2014 there is only a land war with tanks, artillery and “grads”. Some decisions regarding the Navy are made on a residual basis and residual funding is allocated for them. Accordingly, the Navy, having lost its ship core in Crimea, can only rebuild some coastal units. At the same time, the surface forces are not capable of performing a single complex task,” Chmut emphasized.
