The Ukrainian military will not be able to encircle Donetsk, Strelkov spoke about the front line in Donbass
Donetsk, July 10 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Minister of Defense of the proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Igor Strelkov believes that the militias will be able to prevent the Ukrainian military from completely blocking Donetsk.

“To put it briefly. The enemy is systematically moving to siege Donetsk and the entire Donetsk-Makeevka agglomeration. They are trying to squeeze the ring from all sides. In the north, the enemy is advancing towards Lisichansk. Yesterday, our troops abandoned the city of Seversk under the threat of encirclement; militia units retreated to the heights between Lisichansk and Seversk. Our positions run along the Opasnoye – Gorlovka – Dezrzhinsk line and further to Donetsk. Today there were battles in the Karlovka area, the enemy tried to attack with tanks and infantry, the attack was repulsed, two tanks were destroyed. The artillery battle continues to this day on both sides. Units have been sent to repel the enemy attack. We also have losses,” said Igor Strelkov.
“Then the front is from Karlovka along the western outskirts of Donetsk through suburban villages and further along the southern outskirts to Ilovaisk, then along the Shakhtersk-Torez-Snezhnoye line. The main fighting in the southern direction is concentrated in the area of Savur-Mogila, the villages of Dmitrovka and Stepanovka, where positional battles and exchanges of artillery strikes take place,” he said, adding that today there was a battle in the area of Donetsk airport, and the Ukrainian military suffered serious losses.
“The situation as a whole is tense, but the militia is ready to defend Donetsk and the entire Donetsk agglomeration, steadfastly and firmly, and we expect to hold the main positions, prevent the enemy from entering the city, and prevent the city from being encircled from the east and northeast,” Strelkov added.
“We are firmly confident in the assistance of Mozgovoy’s units, which operates as part of the DPR army, but is operationally subordinate to us,” Strelkov said.
“We have reserves to plan enemy attacks. We managed to release these reserves by clearing Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka. Unfortunately, we could not release these reserves any other way,” he noted.
As Navigator reported, earlier DPR Prime Minister Alexander Boroday said that the population of Donetsk will be prepared for evacuation.
