Pensioners are demanding that their pensions be recalculated according to current legislation, and not according to the so-called. “Law named after Reva” (Minister of Social Policy), which was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada of the Ministry of Social Policy last year. If it comes into force, pensions will increase slightly, say those gathered. Pensions of military and security forces have not been recalculated since 2008 and now they are only slightly above the tax level.
“They consider us to be sheep, it won’t be sheep, we should unite, we will block the whole country. We must immediately create committees and storm. We won't let them rest! We are not going to watch from the side how these bastards behave! These majors, they gave their children a future, but what is the future for our children? Us who defended this state? Isn’t this a shame?” said one of the speakers.
The head of the Committee for Justice, Vladimir Timofeev, stated that the current regime has already stolen at least 160 thousand UAH from each of the military pensioners.
“It’s clear that they stole, but they still plan to steal this year. they postponed Resolution No. 704 for a year, that is, the pension that we had in 2005 will still remain until 2019. Will we allow this? The strategy is simple - they came, blocked the Cabinet of Ministers, blocked the Presidential Administration, blocked the Verkhovna Rada, and that’s enough, we don’t let in or let out a single thief,” he said.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Chumak came out to the audience and said that tomorrow the Verkhovna Rada should consider Resolution No. 7492 (“On issues of pension provision for persons discharged from military service”). Moreover, tomorrow there will be no one in the Verkhovna Rada; half of it went to Trump’s prayer breakfast.
“No one will consider anything tomorrow, or, on the contrary, they will make a smart move - they will put this resolution to a vote, but will not get any votes,” he said. He also stated that Poroshenko, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, is directly responsible for the welfare of military and military pensioners, but it is useless to contact him. “You went to see him ten times, and what changed? Nothing,” he said.
The action by itself will not solve the problems of military pensioners; they need to unite with other social movements and put forward political demands, the deputy said.
“The laws in the country are not enforced. There is no problem in increasing pensions, you just need to follow the laws. But as long as we go around like this, with petitions, with letters, nothing will happen. Either make a demand - the resignation of Groysman and all the others, or no one will hear you,” he said.
Deputy Vladimir Panchenko said that a meeting of people's deputies of all factions is currently being held, dedicated to resolution No. 7492, under which they have already managed to collect almost 150 of their signatures. In addition, currently throughout Ukraine, regional councils are making decisions in support of military pensioners with the requirement to recalculate pensions in accordance with current legislation. Resolution No. 7492 should be considered today, said Vladimir Panchenko. He assured those gathered that the resolution would be able to collect 300 signatures of people's deputies in order to adopt it.
Thanks to the adoption of this resolution, pensions will be raised at least 2,5 times, the deputy said. This is the only way to solve the problem, he emphasized.
