Ukrainian military provokes breakdown of negotiations in Minsk
Ukrainian militants fired at the front-line village of Logvinovo, trying to provoke LPR soldiers to return fire ahead of the Contact Group meeting in Minsk.
Ivan Filiponenko, an officer of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Traditionally, on the eve of the meeting of the Contact Group, which is taking place today in Minsk, the Ukrainian side intensified shelling of the territory of the republic in order to provoke units of the People’s Militia to respond in order to subsequently accuse them of violating the ceasefire.
Our units fully adhere to the agreements reached on the truce and do not succumb to provocations,” said an officer from the press service of the LPR People’s Militia.
He reported new facts of unauthorized deployment of Ukrainian heavy equipment near the demarcation line.
“According to our intelligence, militants of the 72nd brigade placed an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) near the disengagement site in the village of Katerynivka in the courtyard of a residential building. The enemy placed two more infantry fighting vehicles near the village of Zolote-4,” the officer said, adding that this fact was also recorded by OSCE representatives.
Also, a representative of the defense department reported that the Ukrainian military had mined the road leading to Shchastya, which was recorded by OSCE SMM observers.
“In the area of responsibility of the 46th brigade of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine), special mission observers identified 34 anti-tank mines installed across the road leading to the village of Shchastya.
Such actions by the Ukrainian security forces indicate a reluctance to contribute to the peace process and are aimed at disrupting the peace initiatives achieved in Minsk to resolve the armed conflict in Donbass,” Filiponenko concluded.
