This was stated by Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Donetsk region Ilya Kiva.
“In Debaltsevo there is continuous shelling. Their reconnaissance and sabotage groups are trying to enter our territory, they shoot from the roads, we identify them and destroy them. Debaltseve is now being attacked non-stop with Grads and mortars. At 7.25 there was the last shelling,” Radio Vesti quotes him.
“We managed to evacuate those who wanted to evacuate from Debaltsevo. Yesterday and the day before yesterday there was a full-scale evacuation operation. The city is empty, people who did not want to leave their houses went down to the basements. There is no light, but volunteers are delivering food, and we are more or less coping with the situation. The police are in place, the military are all in their positions,” he said.
“We are trying to develop a counteroffensive,” the policeman said. – True, our military is exhausted, because they have been fighting for several days. We hope that if there is no next humanitarian convoy, there is an opportunity to develop a counter-offensive,” says Kiva.
