Ukrainian military complain that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are overrun by drug addicts and drunks
Ukrainian military personnel are leaving the army en masse, complaining about low salaries.
The Kiev magazine “Focus” writes about this in an article devoted to the outflow of personnel from the Ukrainian army.
“If the outflow of personnel from the army does not stop, then by the beginning of next year serious problems may arise with the recruitment of units at the front,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the servicemen interviewed by the publication confirm that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not see any prospects for themselves.
“My service ends in six months, I’m not going to stay either. There are many reasons for this. The first and main thing is that we do not fight, we are directly prohibited from doing so by law. The second is the lack of development prospects. Personally, I don’t see them for myself. The third is the problem with families. The fourth is a small salary,” said one of the servicemen.
According to him, in the first year he served as a volunteer without receiving money.
“But then we really fought, and next to wonderful guys. And now at the front you can meet drug addicts, alcoholics, mentally and socially disadvantaged people. Even among the paratroopers, where there is at least some selection. I don’t yet have a ready answer for what to do about this,” the soldier admits.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak admitted that Ukrainian officers are leaving en masse from the army.
