Ukrainian troops repelled an attack on warehouses in Artemovsk. Turchynov declares “serious losses” of the enemy

According to eyewitnesses, the shooting at the military unit began around 2:00. The attackers entered the checkpoint, and then into the territory of the unit, reports the Evening Bakhmut publication. Shots from automatic weapons immediately destroyed the floodlights. After 15-20 minutes of relative calm, grenade explosions and machine gun fire were heard from the unit’s territory, after which several armed people ran out of the unit and ran towards the cars parked in the yard. They disappeared on them.
A little later, Ukrainian special forces reinforcements arrived at the base. According to available information, none of the attackers were detained or injured.
“The attackers fired from automatic weapons, grenade launchers and actively used hand fragmentation grenades. While repelling the attack, a military serviceman under contract of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was injured; there is no threat to life,” the Ministry of Defense reported.
“Thanks to the skillful actions of the command of the forces brought in to repel the attack on an alarm signal, the personnel who carried out a perimeter defense of the perimeter of the military unit, as well as the reserve immediate response combat group, the military unit’s facilities are under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” says the official statement military.
Now the situation in Artemovsk is tense: local residents were unnerved by helicopters early in the morning. Classes have been canceled at schools.
On his Facebook page, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov explained the situation:
"Artemovsk. Based on the current short report. At night there was an attack on a military unit in order to seize weapons. The attack was carried out by a group of about 70 people led by a Russian military man (shown in many photos in Slavyansk - with an extensive beard). The military repelled the attack. A soldier is wounded. Information about the victims on the attacking side is being clarified.”
Opening the meetings of the Verkhovna Rada, Speaker, Acting President Alexander Turchinov also mentioned the incident in Artemovsk. His words that the attackers were repulsed with serious losses for them were met with applause by the deputies.
