Ukrainian troops tried to seize the Debaltsevo-Artemovsk highway

“The most fierce fighting today took place in the Debaltsevo direction,” said DPR Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurina. – Ukrainian troops launched a series of attacks ranging from a tank platoon to a battalion in order to capture commanding heights and regain control of the Debaltsevo-Artemovsk highway. These attacks by the DPR militia were successfully repelled, operational control over the key highway was maintained,” he emphasized.
“Mikhailovka is another settlement that is under the complete control of the militia. Uglegorsk is half controlled,” Basurin said. “This is a dominant height near Yenakievo, which is important in the development of further defensive actions; full control over it is necessary for the further successful development of the event,” explained the Deputy Minister of Defense of the DPR.
As Basurin said, throughout the day there were stubborn battles along the entire line of contact. But the enemy failed to turn the situation in their favor, despite heavy losses, he noted. “During the day, the enemy lost nine tanks, seven infantry fighting vehicles, 117 personnel killed, 67 wounded. In total, in 13 days after the resumption of active hostilities, Ukrainian security forces lost 88 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, 116 tanks, and over 1300 people killed,” Basurin said.
