Ukrainian troops storm Slavyansk, rebels shot down a helicopter (PHOTO)

According to them, the city was initially blocked on three sides. There is a special warning siren in Slavyansk. The fire is carried out both by ground units and from the air.
Self-defense forces are retreating deeper into the city. According to the people's mayor and leader of self-defense of Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomarev, the defenders managed to shoot down an Mi-8 helicopter, and the pilot was captured. According to the rebels, another helicopter, which managed to fly away, was damaged.
They also report that in the morning a convoy of eight armored personnel carriers and six National Guard buses approached the city. Almost immediately, a barricade was occupied in the village of Bylbasovka to the west of Slavyansk, and then the military captured the television center on the commanding heights of Karachun to the south of the city.
At 6.20, army units moved from Kramatorsk towards the block where the buildings of the local administration of the SBU and the city executive committee are located. According to militia commander Igor Strelkov, the city is completely blocked. From time to time, a civil defense siren is heard and bells sound the alarm.
The militia are armed with machine guns, shotguns and Molotov cocktails.
Several defenders were wounded.
