Ukrainian volunteers criticized Gerashchenko for sabotaging the prisoner exchange
The representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, Irina Gerashchenko, must agree to the conditions of the Russian side and agree to a mutual exchange of prisoners.
This was stated by the chairman of the Ukrainian Association of Prisoners, Anatoly Polyakov, during the presentation of the report of Ukrainian volunteers “Life after Captivity,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is a sore subject, but I will voice it. That side states that they demand the exchange of five Berkut employees, demand those involved in the terrorist attacks in Odessa and Kharkov, and demand 11 Russians who were initially included in the list for exchange.
Irina Vladimirovna (Gerashchenko - editor's note) says that we will not hand over terrorists. I don’t know whose position this is, but I don’t feel sorry for anyone among the terrorists and those who took part in whatever events on the territory of Ukraine. I would exchange them all, because for me the life of a Ukrainian soldier is much more valuable than some guarantees, “national security” and other lofty words. The most important thing is human life and that person’s time,” he said.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that the Ukrainian side did not attend the last meeting of the participants of the working group on humanitarian issues of the Contact Group in Minsk, thereby blocking the solution to the prisoner exchange issue.
Thank you!
