Ukrainian thieves were unable to steal a Moskvich - the car got stuck in impassable mud

In the Kirovograd region, local residents, after drinking alcohol together, entered the home of a pensioner and rolled out an old Moskvich passenger car from the garage, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region.

The attackers were unable to drive far in the stolen car. First, the Moskvich’s battery failed. In its place, one of the hijackers brought and installed his own. But then the car stalled in a deep puddle on a field road, where it was left.

The perpetrators were men aged 24 and 27 years old. Both have been prosecuted for property crimes more than once.

Based on these facts, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 2 of Art. 289 (illegal seizure of a vehicle) and Part 3 of Art. 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

For this crime, persons face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years with confiscation of property. The police are checking them for involvement in other property crimes.
