Ukrainian soldiers who swore allegiance to the junta lost their families in Crimea
Most of the families of Ukrainian military from Crimea who supported the 2014 coup in Kyiv have broken up. Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak spoke about this in an interview with Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for families, this is a tragedy, another of those that the Russian Federation brought to us. With the beginning of the aggression, many officers who served in Crimea, their relatives and friends remained there. Unfortunately, most of these families broke up due to the fact that the wives of some of the officers did not want to move to Ukraine,” the official said.
He assured that, as a rule, Ukrainian military personnel no longer have relatives in Crimea.
“Today, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not go to Crimea on vacation or we do not have such information... Such families used to be in the leadership of the Armed Forces, and this was especially true of the leadership of the Naval Forces. I just don’t want to name names, but I know a lot of officers and admirals. Those who have friends there, of course, there are such officers, but those who have families and relatives there – there are practically no such officers,” Poltorak said.
