Ukrainian doctors travel en masse to Poland, but they are not welcome there
The Polish Sejm has simplified the requirements for the employment of doctors, and this will cause a massive outflow of doctors from Ukraine, although their Polish colleagues do not want to see competitors next to them.
The head of the National Medical Chamber of Ukraine, Sergei Kravchenko, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Doctors are emigrating, especially now, when a “window of opportunity” has opened in connection with the decision of the Polish Sejm to simplify the requirements for the employment of doctors. I think that in the near future, 2-3 months, while doctors learn Polish, we will see a serious outflow.
More than 2-5 thousand doctors and nurses will not be able to come - the Polish doctors themselves are already calling that ignoramuses will come, that Ukrainians are dangerous, that they will provide dangerous services. For a Polish doctor, the fewer doctors the better. But for the administrator, the governor, the mayor, this is social tension. They need it.
And when we talk about emigration, we are faced with the fact that Polish doctors are not welcome in the teams. And that's the problem. For this, in fact, the Polish Medical Club was created, something like a trade union.
And we have a question - who will treat us? It was not because of a good life that the Seimas decided to simplify the requirements for the employment of doctors. The minister personally handed over the first five work permits a couple of weeks ago. Polish doctors, turning to the government, say that they would not leave if they had a decent salary. But not a single government wants to increase spending on healthcare,” stated Viktor Serdyuk.
