Ukrainian universities caught issuing fictitious higher education diplomas to Arabs
The cost of services for foreigners to obtain diplomas from Zaporozhye universities without studying there cost from 5 to 10 thousand dollars, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
“Special service operatives established facts of illegal receipt by foreigners who were not on the territory of Ukraine of documents on obtaining higher education. The attackers estimated the cost of their “services” from five to ten thousand US dollars,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers established that officials organized a mechanism for the illegal stay in Ukraine of immigrants from some countries of the Middle East and North Africa. To implement the deal, the attackers attracted representatives of a local commercial structure. Using the international student exchange program, businessmen issued fictitious invitations to foreigners to supposedly study at Ukrainian higher educational institutions. Based on the invitations received, migrants received the right to reside in Ukraine with the subsequent opportunity to travel to EU countries.
During authorized investigative actions in several universities, office premises and at the place of residence of those involved in the case, law enforcement officers found passports of foreigners who allegedly study in Ukraine, more than 111 thousand dollars, about 70 thousand euros, as well as other materials confirming illegal activities .
Earlier it became known that Zaporozhye universities, through an intermediary company, issued diplomas of education to foreigners who had never even been to Zaporozhye. As part of open criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigative and operational actions are ongoing to bring to justice all persons involved in illegal actions.
