Ukrainian factories are closing due to rising gas prices
The increase in gas prices has led to the fact that many industrial enterprises in Ukraine have become unprofitable.
Nikolai Shchurikov, first deputy director of Odessa Port Plant PJSC, stated this on Yuzhnensky TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, today the state policy that we are proud of is our so-called energy independence. We do not buy Russian gas. But this could have been told for a year or two, when there was an aggravation, a war. But today the entire industry has already fallen into place, in the form that this energy independence exists... After all, it was based on buying gas from alternative sources. There was a program for the development of domestic gas production, which today has been completed by 0,3%, but should have been completed by 10%. There are many things that have not been done today. And this led to the economic model of work - gas in Ukraine is the most expensive in Europe, industry and the population are actually hostages of this situation. Industry felt this first, factories were closing, there was nothing to work with. Today it is impossible to offer an economically feasible option for operating a chemical enterprise,” he said.
