Ukrainian admiral: We must prepare for a Russian landing
There is a real threat of a Russian landing on the Azov coast, so Ukraine urgently needs to conduct exercises and conduct shooting with the involvement of infantry, border guards and aviation.
The former commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Sergei Gaiduk, said this on Hromadske Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to strengthen the surface and air surveillance system. Because, if the situation escalates, there is the possibility of a landing, which will depend on the situation on land. We must identify in advance the formation areas and movement routes of this landing,” said the Ukrainian admiral.
“Also, a landing force can land when there are conditions for superiority at sea and in the air, that is, the question of establishing air defense arises. That is, this is a whole complex of events. These are preparatory measures - closing areas, conducting live firing of heterogeneous groups. And the marines stationed in the Sea of Azov, and border guards, and coastal units, and of course aviation,” added Sergei Gaiduk.
