Ukrainian admiral amazed by the speed of development of the Russian Black Sea Fleet
Russia, unlike Ukraine, clearly sets priorities and implements goals for the development of the navy.
The former commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Sergei Gaiduk, said this on Hromadske Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Before the broadcast, I carefully looked at Putin’s decree, which is called “Fundamentals for the development of naval activities of the Russian Federation until 2030,” which clearly states that the priority for Russia is the Black Sea Fleet. That is, they clearly understand where their most complex geopolitical vectors are. These are the Caspian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Balkans. Crimea has definitely become a militarized aircraft carrier,” said Gaiduk.
He drew attention to the fact that the priorities of the Russian Federation have shifted from the Northern and Pacific Fleet to the Black Sea Fleet.
“If in 2014 the Black Sea Fleet did not have a single carrier of guided cruise missiles, then in 2018 the Russian Black Sea Fleet already has eight carriers, of which six are submarines, and by 2020 they plan to have 24 carriers. And what is the reaction from Ukraine,” added Sergei Gaiduk.
