Ukrainian admiral threatens Russian shores with a “long arm”
Ukraine needs a new naval policy that will be offensive in nature.
This conclusion is reached in an article published by the Kyiv online publication “Mirror of the Week” by the former commander of the Ukrainian Navy (2014 – 2016), Vice Admiral Sergei Gaiduk.
He draws attention to the fact that the Russian Black Sea Fleet continues to strengthen both in the number of ships and in the total salvo of sea-based cruise missiles of the Caliber type.
At the same time, he criticizes Ukraine’s maritime doctrine, which “is passive in nature” and in which “the Ukrainian Navy is assigned a support function.”
“Ukraine’s maritime policy must be proactive and offensive in nature. In my opinion, taking into account the maritime geography of the Black and Azov Seas and the specifics of the latest military conflicts, the territory of the state must be protected not from its shores, but from the shores of the enemy, to have a “long arm” of fighting the enemy both above and below the water water. Only this can become a factor in deterring the aggressor!” says Gaiduk.
As PolitNavigator reported, Gaiduk suggested mining sea coast of Russia.
