Ukrainian aircraft designer: “Our Air Force has come to an end”
Experienced pilots are leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine en masse, and military aviation is actually dying.
Ukrainian aircraft designer, former deputy chief designer of the Antonov State Enterprise Anatoly Vovnyanko stated this on the air of the Khvylya Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Ukrainian military pilots have very few flights, they lose their qualifications and will not be able to take part in air battles.
“In the previous year and a half, 120 experienced fighter pilots left the armed forces, and now another 40 pilots have submitted their resignations. Why? The flight time is 40 hours, that is, a minuscule amount. They say there is a lot of paperwork. If you fly 40 hours a year, it’s clear that, God willing, if you take off, land, and fly in a straight line, you won’t win any kind of air combat. The salary of pilots, they write, is 20 thousand, for technical personnel – 10-12,” the expert said.
“That is, there is virtually no fighter aviation, because with such salaries and with such raids it is easier to retrain, go to Antonov, to Ruslan, to go to an airline, however, now there are young experienced guys there, they already know English. This is depressing, in fact aviation is dying, although no one says anything about it,” Vovnyanko said.
