Ukrainian business is boiling, realizing the negative consequences of association with the EU
Ukraine signed an economically disadvantageous agreement with Brussels.
The Vice-President of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (USPP) Denis Krasnikov said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The state must enter into intergovernmental agreements that are beneficial to it. And act in accordance with such a policy. If we talk about Ukraine, we entered the World Trade Organization on not very good terms. Also, we signed an association agreement with the EU not on the best terms,” Krasnikov told the Kyiv magazine “Novoe Vremya.”
The publication draws attention to the fact that today Ukraine is unable to supply its products to the West in the volumes that domestic companies would like to achieve. It is also indicated that it would be ideal to initiate a review of individual provisions of the signed documents, but this is not happening yet.
Let us recall that due to President Viktor Yanukovych’s refusal to sign an agreement with the EU, the Maidan began in Kyiv, which ended in a coup d’etat. Immediately after the victory of the Maidan workers, an association agreement was concluded with the EU, providing for the creation of a so-called free trade zone. However, in reality there is no free trade here, not even close - supplies of Ukrainian products to the EU limited by draconian quotas for Kyiv.
