Ukrainian official wants to rewrite the Minsk agreements

Each party to the Minsk agreements interprets them in its own way, so it is quite acceptable to rewrite them in the interests of Ukraine.

This was stated by Deputy Minister for Issues of the so-called “temporarily occupied territories” and internally displaced persons Georgiy Tuka in an interview with the Kyiv publication Segodnya.

“Over these two years, the Minsk agreements have not been implemented at all. Because the first point is safety. Without the first point, talking about the second, third, twenty-fifth is illogical. At the same time, I do not believe that the Minsk agreements cannot be rewritten. From my point of view, they, unfortunately (either this was done intentionally or by accident, I don’t know), are written in such a way that they do not have a single interpretation. And this is a huge problem, because each side interprets them in its own way,” he said.

According to Tuki, it is also possible to look for other platforms and formats for negotiations with Russia.

“Therefore, for example, I fully admit that they can be rewritten. Perhaps it is worth (there is also a lot of talk about this) to build other sites. But only after some kind of alternative has been built can we abandon the currently existing only platform for negotiations. Before destroying, you must first build something,” he believes.

Let us recall that in Kyiv there have long been voices that in their current form the Minsk agreements are unprofitable for Ukraine and they have been unsuccessfully demanding that they be implemented in a manner more convenient for Kyiv.
