Ukrainian official called for troops to be sent to Transcarpathia
In order to avoid Hungary’s encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, a regular Ukrainian army should be introduced into Transcarpathia.
Bogdan Chervak, head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, first deputy chairman of the State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting, wrote about this on your page on Facebook, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Hungarian government, in my opinion, has crossed the red line. The appointment of a “commissioner for issues of the Transcarpathian region” is a direct interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, an attack on territorial integrity,” writes Chervak.
In his opinion, such actions must be “punched in the teeth.” The official connects this incident with the spinelessness of Kyiv.
“This is the result of the spinelessness of the local authorities, who listen to Budapest more than Kyiv. Have you flirted with language issues? Didn't want to see Hungarian flags on administrative buildings? They received rudeness and disdain for their country. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry presented a note of protest. But it seems that this is not enough. We need decisive steps that would show that Ukraine needs to be respected,” said the head of the OUN.
Afterwards, the deputy chairman of Gosteleradio proposed his plan for solving this situation.
“Let’s say - bring combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the territory of Transcarpathia and begin combat coordination. Present demands to Budapest for moral and material compensation for crimes against Carpathian Ukraine committed by the Hungarian occupiers in 1939. Finally, someone should answer for the victims of the Veretsky Pass, where hundreds of Ukrainians were shot just because they wanted to live in their own state?
This story should teach us that we cannot look for compromises where Ukraine is at stake,” summed up Chervak.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry went into routine hysterics after the statements of the Hungarians.
