Ukrainian MP: Peacekeepers are the last chance to stop the capture of Mariupol
Kyiv, February 19 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – UN peacekeepers, whose introduction is demanded by the Ukrainian Security Council, are the last chance to stop the capture of Mariupol and other cities by DPR forces.
This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy, oligarch Viktor Baloga.

“The peacekeeping mission is our last chance for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. It definitely doesn’t solve all problems, but what it gives us:
1. Freezing the conflict. This is worse than the complete overthrow of the enemy, but better than a war that we cannot yet win;
2. This makes it impossible for a full-scale attack on other Ukrainian cities - Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Artemovsk, Slavyansk.
3. This is a stop to the “federalization of Ukraine” project. We risk losing the battle for Donbass, but winning the war for European Ukraine.
It is clear that this is an ideal scenario in our current situation. Putin is clearly not happy with this, and he will block it in the UN Security Council. But by disrupting peacekeeping initiatives, he is driving himself into a trap and giving the West a free hand to provide us with lethal weapons and further isolate Russia,” Baloga argues on his page.
“If they don’t want to provide peacekeepers so that their soldiers don’t have to fight in the East of Ukraine with Putin, let them help us with loans and modern weapons. But immediately,” the Transcarpathian oligarch issues an ultimatum.
