Ukrainian MP rejoices at the drought in Crimea
The Crimean peninsula is experiencing problems with water supply due to the actions of Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev stated this in an interview with a Kyiv portal.
“There really are problems there after we cut off the Dnieper water; there is no agriculture there at all. They dug several dozen deep wells there to water the gardens and fields with artesian water. This led to groundwater dropping significantly and salinization in the soil,” said the Ukrainian politician.
At the same time, he added that after the “de-occupation of Crimea,” Ukraine will need to invest huge amounts of money to restore agriculture on the peninsula.
The deputy also assured that Ukraine will not discuss with Russia the issue of restoring water supply to the peninsula.
“Negotiations can only be regarding the withdrawal of Russian troops from Crimea and the de-occupation of the peninsula; no other negotiations are planned. And even if someone agrees to open these waters, then the public, I think, will quickly, in any case, the Crimean Tatars will quickly block it again,” Dzhemilev said.
