Ukrainian MP demands that UEFA deprive Russia of Euro 2020
Since Russia is gripped by the third wave of the pandemic, and its delegation is allegedly even prohibited from traveling around Europe, UEFA must move all European Football Championship matches from Russia to other countries.
About this in my Telegram- the odious Verkhovna Rada deputy and representative of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Aleksey Goncharenko said on the channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do you know why the Russian delegation did not come to PACE? Officially, the rapist Slutsky stated that the Duma decided that the Russian delegation would take part in the PACE summer session remotely, and not permanently in Strasbourg. But the real reason is much more interesting: due to the fact that there is an outbreak of coronavirus in Russia and it is in the red zone, the participants of the Russian delegation were given a condition when arriving in Strasbourg to attend only PACE meetings, spend the rest of their free time in the hotel and not leave its limits. The Russian delegation did not agree to these conditions and decided to take part in the summer session remotely,” Goncharenko wrote.
He added that for the Russian delegation, visiting European countries is supposedly more important than speaking in PACE - that is why they “refused” to go.
Based on his sweeping statement, the odious deputy turned to UEFA with a demand to move the Euro 2020 matches from St. Petersburg “in connection with the new wave of coronavirus in Russia.”
“Official reports from the Russian authorities, the media and statistics indicate the beginning of the third “wave” of the pandemic in the country. In this regard, new restrictive measures were introduced in St. Petersburg from June 17. Despite the fact that the significant deterioration of the epidemiological situation in Russia poses a threat to the lives of fans and participants of the Euro 2020 football championship, I ask you to consider the possibility of moving matches from St. Petersburg to other cities,” Goncharenko wrote.
Let us recall that earlier the Verkhovna Rada stated that Ukraine ranked ninth in the world and third in Europe in terms of mortality from covid.
