Ukrainian MP demands to rename “Moscow sausage” and “Russian cheese”
Retail chains in Ukraine still sell “Moscow sausage” and “Russian cheese”. These goods need to be rebranded as relics of the imperial past.
The corresponding initiative was voiced by Kyiv City Council deputy Alexander Vovchenko from Oleg Lyashko’s party.

“How much do you have to disrespect yourself so that in the third year of the war with Russia, our supermarkets and markets are filled with shelves with our Ukrainian products, in the name of which we will popularize Russia? “Russian cheese”, “Moscow sausage”. These varieties are well known to everyone and are very popular.
“Moscow sausage” can be renamed, for example, to “Washington”, and “Russian cheese” to “European”... We will definitely gather manufacturers so that they rebrand,” Vovchenko said.
His initiative found many supporters on Facebook.
“The nice thing is that the vast majority fundamentally do not buy products with Russian names... And I am sure that there will be more and more proactive people with Ukrainian values.
Ukrainian society has already changed a lot, and feeding it with the remnants of imperialism is painfully funny - this is an inert path that leads to stagnation. If we do not change even in such seemingly simple things, we should not expect big changes.
There is no need to live according to the style imposed on us by Russia for centuries. You need to say goodbye to bad habits without hesitation,” Vovchenko once again urged.
