The Ukrainian diplomat broke off all the “peremoga” for the presenter of the broadcast
The participation of US State Department representative Kurt Volker in the upcoming consultations with France and Germany on the Normandy format is a common practice for Americans and has nothing to do with President Vladimir Zelensky’s promises to expand the negotiation process.
The former director of the European Integration Department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a former representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Vasily Filipchuk, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States is taking part in a consultation on the preparation of negotiations in the Normandy format, a new round of consultations with the participation of the United States, France and Germany should take place this week, said US State Department Special Representative Kurt Volker and confirmed: he maintains close contacts with French and German diplomats and is taking participation in the preparation of consultations...
So, what are your prospects? For a long time now, President Zelensky has been talking about his desire, in particular, for Britain and the United States to join the Normandy format, and it seems like the United States is ready to join consultations and sit down to talk. What will happen next?" – the TV presenter asked joyfully.
“Let’s start with the fact that the United States has been taking part in consultations with Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany for a long time,” the expert noted.
“So, wait a second, this wasn’t a “victory” now?” – the journalist clarified disappointedly.
“No, there is nothing new here, such consultations actually began from the Maidan, if you remember, Victoria Nuland constantly called representatives of Germany, France, and Russia - the United States has always been part of the negotiation process. Moreover, the US has always been the most important, effective and influential part of the negotiation process.
Why: because in fact the conflict that is taking place in the East of Ukraine and Crimea is a multi-level conflict.
It is not something that happened on the territory of Ukraine out of the blue, it is not a purely internal conflict, it is not an internal conflict in general, it is a multi-level conflict, where, first of all, we are talking about the geopolitical conflict between Russia and the United States, and Ukraine is only one of the squares of the chessboard on which the United States and Russia play, therefore it is their dialogue that is most important,” concluded Filipchuk.
