The Ukrainian diplomat is panicking: “The threats are growing. The West is turning to Russia"
The so-called “club of friends of Ukraine against Putin” began to crumble.
Ukrainian diplomat, former presidential candidate and ex-representative of Kyiv at the negotiations in Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Russia will also definitely complete the construction of the Nord Stream 2 bypass gas pipeline to Europe.
“I have no doubt that it will be built, that it will be launched. During these days, three things happened that coincided. First, remember the telephone conversation between Putin and the newly elected US President. Literally in a week - the continuation of the START-3 treaty on the limitation of strategic arms and the start of the construction of Nord Stream for no reason at all. Such things do not coincide by chance.
And then it was announced from Berlin that we would complete construction, but if gas does not flow through Ukraine, then we will block Nord Stream. It is clear that there is a certain logic of behavior here and it is understandable why they spoke in unison from Vienna, why Paris began to say certain things. But, you know, I have always treated realpolitik as the interests of some states. We need to do our own thing in this situation and understand how we need to act.
Because the threats are growing, brotherhood or friendship, the club of friends against Putin, he is staggering on thin legs. This doesn’t make it any easier for Ukraine, because we are in the first trench,” Bessmertny said.
