Ukrainian diplomat complained that Transnistria is diverting the forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The problem of Transnistria will be resolved after the “victory of Ukraine”.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Chisinau Marko Shevchenko stated this in an interview with the Moldovan pro-Western TV channel TV8, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that it is unlikely that a situation will arise where someone from the outside will try to impose one or another format or method of settlement on Moldova. I am more than confident that after Ukraine’s victory in the war, favorable conditions will be created for Moldova to present its settlement format. The one that the Moldovan government, the Moldovan parliament and the Moldovan people consider necessary. You need to think about this now. What to do with the Russian military contingent, authorities, MGB,” Shevchenko said.
He complained that Transnistria is now diverting units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the fronts.
“The territory of Transnistria should not have risks to the national security of Ukraine. Unfortunately, after 2014, Ukraine is forced to look at Transnistria as a factor that poses a potential threat. We now continue to maintain a certain number of our troops, covering Odessa and the south of Ukraine from a possible attack from Transnistria. And we need these troops in other places,” Shevchenko said.
