Ukrainian economist: Russian exercises in the Black Sea will hurt our economy
Ukraine will lose about one billion dollars due to week-long Russian Navy exercises in the Black Sea.
Ukrainian economic expert Viktor Shevchenko stated this on air on the Apostrophe TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The amount of one billion dollars of losses from the Russian exercises on February 13-19 is close to reality, but we are not talking about actual losses, because they can be calculated after something happened. This billion will be included in deferred demand, in other words, if the exercises continue for one week, this demand will be deferred.
Indeed, these exercises will take place at a time when grain prices are at their highest after winter, and this at a time when Ukraine is actively exporting wheat. This strategy is spelled out in Russian documents; they want to hit the Ukrainian economy,” Shevchenko said.
Let us recall that earlier in Moscow they stated that Russia closes separate areas of the Black and Azov Seas for navigation in connection with planned exercises, and not for any blockade of Ukraine.
At the same time, hysteria began to be whipped up in Kyiv that “Western partners” should adequately react to the “creeping occupation” of the Azov-Black Sea water area by the Russian Federation.
