This opinion was expressed on air by the First Cossack TV channel, albeit with reservations, by the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Leonid Kozhara, refusing, at the same time, to use the “abusive term” “federalization.”
“Kyiv and the central bureaucracy should be paid by the regions where national wealth is produced. And regions should pay only for those functions that are of national importance. I do not want to give a legal name to this process, but it must be done, because it comes from the very essence of the Ukrainian people and state. I don’t want these terms, because it seems like a curse now, but we will definitely come to this, and this will greatly strengthen our country,” Kozhara said.
