Ukrainian expert about Turchinov’s words: We have nothing to answer Russia with
The Ukrainian Navy will have nothing to respond to Russia if some of its combat units are relocated to the Sea of Azov. Kiev political scientist Pavel Rudyakov stated this to PolitNavigator, commenting on the words of Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov about the need to strengthen the Naval Forces grouping near Mariupol and Berdyansk.
“It’s strange to hear about the relocation of the Ukrainian Navy from an official of this level and such specialization. We have nothing to relocate to the Sea of Azov, we do not have a navy, especially if we are talking about such a potential that could withstand the Russian Navy.
Turchinov has made similar statements more than once. He does them regularly. Since 2014, every few months he has been pumping up military history - “the Russians are coming”, “aggression is beginning” - from the Crimean, Mariupol, Chernigov directions, etc.
If you believe Turchinov, then Russia has already attacked 15 times in recent years from all directions, except perhaps the western one. Moreover, Turchinov each time referred to some kind of intelligence data.
But none of these predictions came true. There were no offensives or open aggressions. All this was a game to raise the stakes and to strengthen one’s own authority as a strategist who looks forward and who has some kind of information that allows him to act proactively.
Unfortunately, irresponsibility in words and actions is the calling card of our current leadership.
Probably, some movements will be made at Turchinov’s request, but they will lead to nothing. We don’t have the resources that would allow us to change the situation in our favor,” Rudyakov said.
Thank you!
