Ukrainian expert: Russian sanctions will have serious consequences
Russian sanctions may result in a shortage of coal, liquefied gas and petroleum products, and there is also a possibility that many schemes will be uncovered and Ukraine will be overwhelmed by major business scandals.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on air on the 112 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“While sanctions were introduced from Europe and Ukraine, and the Russian authorities kept a pause, it seemed to us that the situation was manageable. But now, when Russia is introducing sanctions against Ukrainian businessmen, politicians and companies, we still don’t fully know how this will turn out. And, most likely, this will result in a huge energy deficit related to coal, liquefied gas, and petroleum products.
I'm not even talking about the problems that will arise for commodity producers who were engaged, albeit in a hybrid form, in supplies to the Russian market. This could lead to business scandals, all the schemes will become apparent about who really worked with whom,” Ermolaev said.
