Ukrainian expert: Russia has everything ready for a strike from several directions
Ukraine is not ready for a war with Russia at sea, and NATO members are not ready to begin military operations to protect the interests of Kyiv.
Deputy Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research Mikhail Samus stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now there is an information trend that is allegedly creating panic around a Russian attack on the Black Sea. But this is not panic, this is a statement of fact - on July 17, the Russian Armed Forces and the Black Sea Fleet were put on alert, and elements of offensive operations are now being practiced. Obviously, preparations are underway for strategic command exercises in September.
In recent years, after the aggression against Ukraine, Russia has created sufficient forces to carry out an offensive operation against Ukraine at any moment.
Russia created the 1st Tank Army, 20th Army, 8th Army near Ukraine. These groups are sufficient to carry out an offensive operation in several directions at any time and achieve success.
Now we are not ready for a war with Russia in the maritime sector. To do this, you need to stop imitating and make concrete decisions.
Unfortunately, our NATO allies have not yet developed a strategy for the Black Sea themselves. This is passive deterrence - they demonstrate that, in principle, they are ready to protect their members, but are not ready to fight for us and cross the red line of Article 5 (on the collective defense of alliance members, - ed.)
And Russia understands this and does not violate Article 5 regarding NATO, but Russia is ready to act against Ukraine at any moment.
For six years we have been saying a lot, let's find someone responsible for the failure of at least some issue - that we have no ships, no defense system at sea. Who is responsible for this? I think we won’t find a single official,” the Ukrainian expert laments.
