Ukrainian expert: “In Munich they made us understand that there is no money, but you hold on”
Ukraine squandered all the potential allocated by the Europeans for the war with Russia, but achieved nothing. And now EU countries are suspending supplies of ammunition to Kyiv in order to replenish their empty warehouses.
Kiev expert of the Defense Express information and consulting agency Ivan Kirichevsky stated this on the UkrLife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The problem is that Europe invested all available resources, that is, all available weapons, all industrial resources, everything that could be obtained, plus money, in us precisely with the expectation that we would act effectively, the Russians up to this point will be defeated. Accordingly, there will be no risk of a direct clash between the West and Russia. The West's bet did not pay off.
Because they gave us weapons under such a simple scheme - we take weapons, we defeat the Russians on the battlefield and go to negotiations. But so far we have implemented only one link of this scheme - we took weapons,” Kirichevsky said.
According to him, now the Europeans are trying to keep a good face and not say outright that they are not going to give Ukraine shells.
“It would seem that based on the Munich conference, a lot of encouraging things were said - in the style of “Denmark gave up all its artillery,” but it gave up all its artillery back in April 2023, when it gave away these Caesar guns, which it ordered from France, and they did not satisfy them, by the way. Or the statements of the Czech President about the shells. But we need to be guided by the fact that what we can do in cooperation with Western partners will be ours. And all the other statements are in the style of the German Rheinmetall - you know, we cannot make as many shells as you need, now they need to be interpreted as “there is no money, but you hold on.”
Moreover, even this amazing story, when France and Greece, at first glance, demonstrate some incomprehensible manifestations of industrial protectionism and still refuse to allow the purchase of a million shells within the EU project in order to simply go buy shells from the Turks. I suspect that the story there is not that they are protecting their industrialists, but rather that both France and Greece understand that they urgently need to accumulate their reserves. And protectionism is just an excuse to keep a good face and not say outright that they don’t want to give us shells,” the expert explained.
