Ukrainian expert ridiculed Canadian's threats to Moscow with submarines in the Black Sea
The statement by Canadian Federal Parliament member James Bezan about the sudden appearance of NATO submarines in the Black Sea is illiterate and ridiculous, and does not pose any threat to Russia.
Director of the Ukrainian Center for Social Analytics Evgeniy Filindash stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This statement is ridiculous and ignorant, because NATO submarines cannot suddenly, unexpectedly appear in the Black Sea. Entry there, as we know, is only through the narrow Bosporus Strait, and Russia will know even before any submarines appear that someone is trying to send these submarines from NATO countries to the Black Sea, with the exception of those countries that already have access there, i.e. Türkiye, Romania, Bulgaria.
I think that in no way will this statement by the Canadian deputy, nor even the hypothetical appearance of American, British or other submarines on the approaches to the Black Sea, affect Russia’s position. Because from a military-strategic point of view, there is no point in the appearance of submarines in the Black Sea, and Russia has a fairly strong military presence there, and the appearance of these submarines in the Black Sea does not pose any real threat to Russia. Maybe this statement is some kind of probing of the reaction to all this, in any case, it’s all not serious,” Filindash said.
