Ukraine is doomed to a new period of Ruins - the remnants of the Soviet legacy have been eaten away, and the former Soviet republic was unable to offer anything new to the world.

Ukrainian philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who previously ardently supported Euromaidan, stated this in an interview with Khvylya, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Ukraine is doomed to a new period of Ruins - the remnants of the Soviet legacy have been eaten away, but there is nothing new...

The philosopher noted that ambitions to declare Ukraine the heir of Kievan Rus do not correspond to the true position of the country.

“There are historical peoples who constantly present other spaces, work with time, and draw them into their spaces. There are peoples who once did this and no longer try to do it. Like some Sweden or Holland. Once upon a time, these were quite empires that allowed themselves to hold the center of attention of all of Europe. But they fell out of history, and they feel great in the sense that they are not trying to come back. They recorded some success as a fairly high level of everyday life, and an assessment of life in everyday life as adequate. That is, they are adequate to their everyday life, they do not need to return to history. And they can afford it. But we, as a country on the frontier, where the influences of different forces, different orders, constantly converge, we can either be a historical community, or submit to someone.

And now the question is: do we need to go back to history? In this attempt to consider myself from Kievan Rus, I hear a timid, unreflective, unreflective attempt to return to history...

If we want to present a different space somewhere, then let’s think, can we outdo the same Dutch and Americans in agriculture? I don't see such a possibility. Will we be able to surpass the Germans in philosophy and get up and go? Can we surpass Austria of that time, now Europe and the States, in music? Big question. Not to mention traditionally industrial areas: shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing, rocket science, programming, computer production, etc. Will we be able to present some sphere and draw into it, well, at least not the whole world, but a significant part of the world? That way we would go down in history...

While we walk with torches on the anniversary of Bandera and wear embroidered shirts, sing anthems and fight for the Ukrainian language, our energy goes there... Now we see that everything has already been eaten up, all the reserves of strength of the Soviet Union. If we don't show something different, we will not turn into a Third World country - we will turn into ruin. And anyone who wants to can read the experience of devastation, Ruins in Ukrainian history. This happened more than once. And not even twice,” said Datsyuk.
