Ukraine does not need the old Ukrainian Navy ships that remained in Crimea after 2014. It is much more important for Kyiv to have five modern submarines to blockade Sevastopol and sink Russian combat units right at the exit from the base.

This was stated on TV channel 112 by the first deputy head of the Union of Officers of Ukraine, former commander of the 14th submarine division of the USSR Black Sea Fleet, Evgeniy Lupakov, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Today there is no question of naval combat by our Naval Forces. If today we had three to five normal, modern submarines, then the problem would not exist at all. They would have simply melted them back in the base. And it’s not practical to take this scrap metal,” Lupakov said.
