Ukrainian general declared the blockade of Donbass a mistake
The blockade of Donbass is a mistake by the Ukrainian authorities, which led to dire consequences.
The former head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, former commander of the Internal Troops, Alexander Kikhtenko, stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kikhtenko called for lifting the blockade and starting the payment of pensions in Donbass.
“I am categorically against the blockade of the temporarily occupied territory, which we temporarily do not control. I believe that these are our people, our territory, and we should not fence ourselves off from them, but vice versa. We should give medicines, pay pensions, we should give education to young people and we should give Ukrainian passports. But the decision of the National Security and Defense Council is a blockade, and today we have serious consequences,” Kikhtenko said.
Previously Kikhtenko declared that Ukraine should sit down to the negotiating table with Russia and seek compromises on Donbass.
He also emphasized that the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, whose deputy corps consisted of Euromaidan participants, ATO militants and “political prisoners,” was a failure.
