The Ukrainian general admitted that NATO is not a dream
No one will take Ukraine into NATO while there is a military conflict in the country, so you need to build an army yourself and be direct friends with the United States in the hope of increasing financial assistance.
This was stated by the ex-chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, General of the Ukrainian Army Alexander Kikhtenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When there is a conflict, when there is Crimea, Donbass, you cannot talk about any NATO, because the country that strengthens the defense capabilities of NATO countries is accepted into the alliance. Today this is not the case. I believe that today we need to continue to work with both the Minsk agreements and the Budapest Memorandum, and still enter into direct cooperation with the United States and Britain. As an example, Israel today receives tens of times more financial assistance from the United States than Ukraine,” Kikhtenko said.
“We need to build our army, develop our defense complex. Ukraine is a country that can provide its armed forces with its own, Ukrainian weapons, which are no worse than those we are talking about regarding NATO standards. This is the only way to achieve success. Today, no president, no matter what he writes into his program, will be able to resolve this issue. And I deeply doubt that the next president will be able to achieve this goal. We need to think about creating our own Ukrainian armed forces,” the general added.
