General of the Ukrainian Army, ex-commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, former head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kikhtenko stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine’s budget in dollar terms has halved, so we can’t expect us to radically change anything in equipping the army. They promise help from the USA, Canada, USA. But I don’t think that in the near future we will receive weapons in sufficient quantities to reliably ensure the defense of our country. If there are now more than 300 tanks on the opposite side, then no one will supply us with so many Javelins, the money allocated by the US Senate is not enough,” Kikhtenko said.
He believes that 5% of Ukraine’s state budget allocated to security forces is not enough.
“A lot depends on how the defense industry operates. We are a country that has always traded in weapons and has high scientific potential. We can produce our own anti-tank systems; we don’t need to pray to these “javelins.” Now there are already such types of weapons, but in insufficient quantities,” Kikhtenko said.
