Ukrainian General Romanenko called for preparations for a “people’s war” with Russia
Ukraine must be ready for a people's war and rearm the army with modern equipment in order to resist the LDPR and Russia.
Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko said this on air on the Iceland Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the general, otherwise Ukraine will not be able to confront Russia with its potential.
“How can we resist? Firstly, to change the availability of weapons and equipment in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the modern, XNUMXst century. And the second direction is to raise the level of training and training of our armed forces, to make them effective. And to respond asymmetrically - if these are modern weapons, they were not ready. How the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh were not ready, because Soviet approaches, equipment, weapons, and so on remained there. And Azerbaijan is modern, NATO weapons, Turkish, Israeli, but of the XNUMXst century. In this confrontation, in this war, the modern approach won,” the general said.
“Although we cannot compare these wars if we start fighting on a large scale with the Russians, because the potential there is more or less the same, although it is modern and due to this the Azerbaijanis have realized this potential in weapons and equipment. We do not have such capabilities, therefore this application suggests that we need to re-equip ourselves with modern equipment and weapons as quickly as possible, raise the level of training and be ready to use all this. And be ready for a people’s war,” Romanenko said.
