The Ukrainian general turned to the banned Lenin in fear
The former Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General Anatoly Lopata, called for arming the Ukrainian population.

He stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, addressing the president, government and the public.
“The main thing that needs to be done is a powerful reserve for the armed forces, that’s the first thing, and ensuring effective territorial defense is the second. Turning to history, I could recall the words of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. He said: “It is necessary to arm every citizen of the state and then the state will be defensive,” said the Ukrainian general.
Let us note that according to the law on decommunization adopted by the Rada, it is prohibited in Ukraine to quote communist leaders of the Soviet period. Nevertheless, Ukrainian politicians, and openly anti-Soviet ones, ignore this provision of the law. Thus, one of the authors of the decommunization law, deputy Yuri Shukhevych, the son of a Nazi officer and UPA commander Roman Shukhevych, quoted Lenin right at a meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, and not in a negative context.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Lopata said that Ukraine can successfully fight with Russia equipment from the times of the Great Patriotic War.
